Right at Home Australia has grown once more in the Melbourne region with the sale of Right at Home Melbourne Berwick. 

Owners and registered nurses Juan Miguel Facundo and Hiyasmin Facundo are partners in life and purpose.  

Their journey in healthcare began in the Philippines, where they first trained and worked as registered nurses before moving to the UK together. There, they both took on roles in the NHS – Juan as a registered nurse and Hiyasmin as a personal care assistant (PCA) – gaining hands-on experience and deepening their passion for supporting people through all stages of life.  

In 2013, the couple made the big move to Australia and continued their careers in nursing. Juan continued to build his career in intensive care in both public and private settings, rising to the role of ICU Liaison Clinical Nurse Consultant. Hiyasmin built her expertise in surgical orthopaedics. They have both worked in high-pressure environments and understand what compassionate and excellent care truly means.  

Like many in healthcare, the COVID pandemic pushed Juan and Hiyasmin to pause and reflect. Shortly after Juan completed his Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship, the couple began exploring new directions and discovered Right at Home. 

“Burnout and long hours made us think seriously about the future – for ourselves, our family, and the kind of impact we wanted to have,” Juan says.  

“The more we learned, the more Right at Home resonated with us; its values, professionalism, and strong commitment to serve aligned perfectly with who we are,” he continues. 

“Starting a home care business felt like a natural step – a way to use our skills outside of the hospital and give back to the community in a more personal and lasting way.
